The class of 2024 has been an interesting year to say the least when it comes to running back recruiting for Washington. Even though two of the best running backs in the nation are on the west coast, the Huskies are taking a good look into a four-star prospect from Chicago.

Darrion Dupree became the ninth running back to receive a scholarship offer to Washington in the class of 2024 and with the timing of his offer, it appears the coaching staff is going to push as hard as possible to set up an official visit with him.

Dupree holds 30 offers from schools all over the country, including Michigan, Michigan State, Wisconsin, and Notre Dame. He has already taken official visits to Wisconsin and Illinois and is scheduled to visit Missouri on June 23.

The Huskies have a growing cast of guests set to arrive on June 16, which could include Dupree if time allows. Washington is also set to host official visitors throughout the week and if the coaching staff has truly prioritized him, he'll be on campus at some point very soon.

Dupree is a truly impressive prospect on film. The 5-10, 190-pound running back has a low center of gravity, great contact balance, and breakaway speed. Currently ranked as the 366th overall prospect in the country, he has an opportunity to see a major rankings increase during his senior year after an ankle injury derailed his junior season.

Running backs coach Lee Marks has an opportunity to reel in a big-time player while also opening a potential pipeline into a hotbed of talent in the Midwest. With just one commit currently in the class of 2024, the coaching staff needs to close on some more prospects quickly.

I've followed the Huskies for my entire life, and to be in a position where I get to cover them full-time is nothing short of an honor. After graduating from Lasell University in 2019, I moved to Seattle to pursue my dream of working in sports media. While writing for the Husky Haul, I also covered local sports for the Everett Daily Herald before the COVID-19 pandemic. After being hired by Realdawg.com in February of 2021, I also transitioned into doing a lot of entertainment writing, as I work on a variety of magazines as a contributing writer for Centennial Media, and have also contributed to Emmy Magazine, as well as Walt Disney Television Studios.
