Huskies Earn Commitment From 3-Star DL Ratumana Bulabalavu
While he isn't the highest-rated prospect to join Washington's class of 2024, there aren't a lot of recruits who can do what Ratumana Bulabalavu can do. The three-star recruit from San Diego has become the latest to join the Huskies' fast-growing recruiting class.
A product of Army and Navy Academy in Carlsbad, California, the 6-foot-4, 260-pound pass rusher plays with unmatched explosiveness. He led all California high schoolers in sacks, recording 22.5 during his junior season, a number that would make Michael Strahan proud.
After taking official visits to Arizona and Oregon State early in the month, Bulabalvu has found his next home. While he holds only seven scholarship offers, he has the potential to see a meteoric rise during his senior season.
Bulabalavu is a fluid athlete who mainly lines up on the edge in high school, but could find himself kicking inside to defensive tackle at the college level, or playing a little bit of both positions.
The Sunset League's Defensive Player of the Year has the raw athleticism needed to succeed at the college level and now will have a chance to learn from defensive-line coach Inoke Breckterfield. If he can refine his hands while learning how to catch offensive linemen off balance, he has the chance to be a disruptive force.
Washington put a major emphasis on stacking quality bodies along the defensive line and Bulabalavu makes three. It sounds like there are still a few spots available, but the building blocks of a very solid class in the front seven have been laid.
