The talented defensive back from California has found a home in Seattle.

Washington clearly knocked its big weekend of official visitors out of the park as the Huskies picked up yet another commitment, this one coming from four-star defensive back Peyton Waters. He becomes the third four-star prospect from California to join the UW class of 2024, joining offensive lineman Paki Finau and wide receiver Jason Robinson.

Waters, a product of Birmingham High School in Lake Balboa, is ranked by the 247 Sports Composite as the 390th overall prospect. While he's listed as an athlete, he'll end up playing safety at the college level.

Even though he held just 12 offers, the four-star prospect received a lot of interest from top-tier programs. He took all five of his official visits, going on trips to Northwestern and UCLA in May, while also traveling to Stanford and Utah in June before making a decision.

“Yeah, it feels like I’m a need for the program and they’re pushing hard,” Waters told 247 Sports' Greg Biggins following his visit. “I fit in really well there both on and off the field. I loved being around the players and have a great feel for the program."

On the field, Waters will definitely fit right into the Washington secondary. While he plays a lot of cornerback for the Patriots defense, his football IQ, speed and tackling ability looks like they will help him most at safety at the college level.

The 6-foot-2, 170-pound Waters has a lot of room to add weight to his frame and, if he can get close to 200 pounds by the time he sees the field, he could be a very productive member of the secondary.

I've followed the Huskies for my entire life, and to be in a position where I get to cover them full-time is nothing short of an honor. After graduating from Lasell University in 2019, I moved to Seattle to pursue my dream of working in sports media. While writing for the Husky Haul, I also covered local sports for the Everett Daily Herald before the COVID-19 pandemic. After being hired by Realdawg.com in February of 2021, I also transitioned into doing a lot of entertainment writing, as I work on a variety of magazines as a contributing writer for Centennial Media, and have also contributed to Emmy Magazine, as well as Walt Disney Television Studios.
