Washington Offers Top 2025 Prospect In Oregon

Baron Naone can play on either side of the ball.

The Washington coaching staff spent the majority of the Top Dawg camp it hosted on Friday focusing on the classes of 2025 and 2026. With a final chance to scout prospects, it handed out a handful of offers to members of both classes.

One player who received an offer late Friday night after the conclusion of the camp was West Linn High School athlete Baron Naone. He became the second standout from West Linn, Oregon, to receive a scholarship offer from Washington in recent weeks, following in the footsteps of 2027 defensive back Josiah Molden.

Naone, who is ranked by 247 Sports as the No. 2 prospect in the state of Oregon in the class of 2025, now holds seven scholarship offers. Among the other schools interested in his services are Arizona, Arizona State, Cal and Oregon State.

Not only does Naone play both sides of the ball for West Linn, but he also stars in multiple sports. He plays in the outfield for his high school and is considered one of the best in the state by Prep Baseball Report.

While it appears Naone's offer from the Huskies is to play tight end, he looks like someone who could play on defense if asked. As an edge rusher, he has a good combination of power and speed but has yet to refine his hand-fighting technique.

On the offensive side, Naone is a very good run blocker who uses great leg drive and hand placement to move defenders out of the way. He's also a reliable route runner who's a savant at finding soft spots in the opposing zone.

I've followed the Huskies for my entire life, and to be in a position where I get to cover them full-time is nothing short of an honor. After graduating from Lasell University in 2019, I moved to Seattle to pursue my dream of working in sports media. While writing for the Husky Haul, I also covered local sports for the Everett Daily Herald before the COVID-19 pandemic. After being hired by Realdawg.com in February of 2021, I also transitioned into doing a lot of entertainment writing, as I work on a variety of magazines as a contributing writer for Centennial Media, and have also contributed to Emmy Magazine, as well as Walt Disney Television Studios.
