Winning and walk offs are becoming the norm in Morgantown these days as the Mountaineers took two of three games vs the Kansas Jayhawks over the weekend.

With the series win, the Mountaineers have won four straight series in the Big 12 and have now earned themselves a No. 17 national ranking by D1baseball.com.

Friday nights game was pushed into Saturday morning thanks to Mother Nature, which set up a double header beginning at 11 a.m.

West Virginia ace pitcher Alek Manoah essentially repeated his last performance vs Texas Tech by going the distance and striking out 15 batters while only giving up three hits. It should be noted that two of those hits were infield singles.

Both Manoah and Ryan Cyr of Kansas pitched eight phenomenal innings before Mountaineer first baseman Marques Inman walked it off with a solo home run to center field.

Game two on Saturday was just as good and was another quality pitching battle between Jackson Wolf and Ryan Zeferjahn.

The game had to be delayed with severe weather returning to the area that produced marble-sized hail. The Mountaineers would again get a walk off win off of a wild pitch to take the series.

Sunday, the Jayhawks put up three runs in the first inning and pounced on West Virginia early to a 6-1 lead, but the Mountaineers made a strong push late in the game to only fall by one run, 6-5.

West Virginia will host Penn State this Tuesday at 7 p.m. before traveling to Austin to take on the Texas Longhorns for a three game weekend series.
