Tucker Earns Big 12 Baseball Player of the Week
On Monday, The Big 12 Conference announced West Virginia shortstop Tevin Tucker as the Big 12 Baseball Player of the Week.
Tucker hit .571 (8-14) with a pair of RBIs and extended his hitting streak six as the Mountaineers leadoff hitter and helped guide West Virginia to a perfect 4-0 record last week, notching a win against rival Pitt at PNC Park and the program's first sweep of the Big 12 foe TCU over the weekend.
The Prince George, Virginia, native is hitting .379 this season, which ranks fourth in the league, with six doubles, three triples, 40 runs, 18 RBIs, and a home run.
Tucker is the second Mountaineer to earn the award this season with Big 12 Player of the Year frontrunner and All-American candidate J.J. Wetherholt taking home the honor following the second week of the season.
Meanwhile Oklahoma’s Carter Campbell claimed Big 12 Pitcher of the Week and Oklahoma State’s Tyler Wulfert grabbed Big 12 Newcomer of the Week.
