It's official.

West Virginia University has its first USA Baseball Collegiate National Team member in program history.

Sophomore second baseman JJ Wetherholt found his name on the 31-man roster, a testament to his success both in the regular season and at the 2023 Collegiate National Team Training Camp this past week.

Wetherholt represents the Big 12 Conference alongside TCU's Ben Abeldt, Kansas State's Kaelen Culpepper and Tyson Neighbors, and Texas Tech's Kyle Robinson.

Team USA will represent in a pair of five-game series with Chinese Taipei and Japan from Jun. 30-July 12 at various venues across North and South Carolina. The 20th USA vs. Chinese Taipei International Friendship Series is set for Jun. 30-July 4. Games are set at the National Training Complex (Cary), the Durham Bulls Athletic Park (Durham), Atrium Health Ballpark (Kannapolis), and Segra Stadium (Fayetteville). 

The National Training Complex will host the opening three games of the USA vs. Japan Collegiate All-Star Championship Series July 7-9, while games four and five of the series will be played at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Ballpark in Charleston, SC on July 11 and 12.
