Andy Katz Lists WVU in 'Top 10 Most Underrated Teams' for 2023-24

Will the Mountaineers take people by surprise this season?

College basketball analyst Andy Katz of NCAA.com is buying stock into Josh Eilert's West Virginia squad this season, listing the Mountaineers as one of the top ten most underrated teams in the country.

No, the Mountaineers didn't look great in the season-opener against Missouri State but that's a team that will make some noise in the Missouri Valley Conference this year. Couple that with the fact that WVU is down three starters and trying to figure out its lineups on the fly. 

Once Kerr Kriisa returns from his nine-game suspension, West Virginia's offense will elevate to a whole different level. If the NCAA miraculously changes its mind and allows RaeQuan Battle to play, the Mountaineers will be in business. Either way, not much will be expected of this group this season and if Eilert can keep this group's confidence, they will have a chance at securing a bid come March.
