Edwards Makes Return, Still Working Toward Getting '100% Healthy'

A step in the right direction for the Mountaineer big man.

West Virginia center Jesse Edwards made his return to game action during Saturday's loss to Oklahoma State - his first game in over a month after suffering a fractured wrist against UMass.

Edwards came off the bench and recorded four points, four rebounds, and two steals in 16 minutes of play. He shot 1/3 from the field and 2/5 from the free-throw line. Although Edwards' presence in the paint is much needed for the Mountaineers, it's still going to take a few games for him to get reacclimated and gain his confidence back.

"Jesse's going to get you the rebounds and then give you some hard rebounds down there but you got understand, the wrist is a situation with him at the foul line, and so if they sniff that out, and they started hacking them just to sit on the line, it does nobody no good," interim head coach Josh Eilert said in his postgame press conference. "He has a hard time getting that thing up there. Hopefully, just each and every day he gets more comfortable, and we ease him back into the equation and we still get that production from Pat and we're very well-balanced team as we move forward and get him 100% healthy."

Edwards will have a few days to rest and recover before getting back at it on Wednesday when the Mountaineers welcome in the Cincinnati Bearcats.
