The West Virginia men's basketball team officially gained a new member Tuesday afternoon in Eastern Michigan transfer guard Noah Farrakhan, who enrolled at the school.
“Noah is a combo guard with outstanding athleticism and a knack for scoring the basketball,” head coach Josh Eilert said. “In the open court, he’s as good as anyone in the country moving downhill. He’s very fluid with how he gets to the rim and how he finishes. He’s hard to stay in front of with his quickness and how active he is. Noah will bring high energy to our team.”
Due to having transferred once from East Carolina to Eastern Michigan, Farrakhan will need a waiver to be cleared to play for the Mountaineers in 2023-24. His eligibility status "will be determined at a later date."
This past season, the Hillsdale, New Jersey native averaged 12.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 0.7 steals per game while shooting 43% from the field, 24% from three, and 75% at the free throw line. Although it was a down year beyond the arc, Farrakhan does have the ability to make threes consistently, sinking 62 of his 185 career attempts (34%).
Coming out of The Patrick School, Farrakhan was considered a three-star recruit and held offers from Florida, Iona, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi State, New Mexico, Ohio State, Penn State, Pitt, Providence, Rutgers, Seton Hall, St. John's, VCU, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, and several others.
He will have two years of eligibility remaining.
