Josh Eilert and the West Virginia coaching staff are doing everything they can to put together the best roster possible considering the circumstances.

Earlier this week, they picked up a commitment from Florida State transfer guard Jeremiah Bembry and are looking at other options in the portal while trying to re-recruit one of their own, Jose Perez.

Perez entered the transfer portal on July 5th, following the news that Bob Huggins would no longer be the head coach of the Mountaineers. Perez is open to returning to West Virginia but will consider the several options he has in the portal.

He has scheduled a visit to Michigan for July 28-30 and according to Joe Tipton of On3 Sports, he has also received interest from Cal, Georgia Tech, Gonzaga, Oregon, and Xavier.

Perez averaged 18.9 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 4.5 assists, earning First Team All-MAAC honors with the Manhattan Jaspers in 2021-22. He has one year of eligibility remaining.
