Kriisa Explains Why He Chose West Virginia

Some insight on the decision.

West Virginia picked up a huge addition to the 2023-24 roster on Wednesday afternoon, securing the commitment of top transfer guard Kerr Kriisa.

The former Arizona Wildcat averaged 9.9 points, 5.1 assists, and 2.4 rebounds per game while shooting 37% from the field and 36% from three-point land. He led the PAC 12 Conference in assists this past season and finished 2nd the year prior, notching 4.7 assists per game.

Kriisa chose West Virginia over the likes of Arkansas, Ole Miss, Nebraska, Xavier, and several others. What was it about WVU that stuck out?

"I wanted to start from zero," Kriisa told ESPN's Jonathan Givony. "I didn't want to go anywhere where I had preexisting relationships. I need to challenge myself. I really liked how they recruited me. Jay Kuntz and the entire staff. When I saw the old truck that Bob Huggins is driving, I knew that guy was loyal. Now I need to start playing some defense."

Kriisa will have two years of eligibility remaining.
