Saturday afternoon in front of an enthusiastic crowd at the Coliseum, the Mountaineers came from behind to win 65-64 over the seventh-ranked Kansas Jayhawks.

The game was by far the best performance of the season for West Virginia. They answered the call Huggins had been begging for all season and played better than their 9-9 record. Ultimately, West Virginia lingered around and was able to pull out the win in the end.

They proved they had what it takes to win against the best. They took care of the ball, made open shots and played great defense - things we haven't seen this season. They created a formula on how to win and how to win against some of the best talent in America.

It gives everyone a sigh of relief. This team had been so close to winning so many games and they finally got over that hump. They hold the key to their success and control their own destiny. It may be tough, but they can string a nice run together if they can lock in on the positives from today. West Virginia’s next game is Monday at home vs Baylor.

This was the performance Huggins and the fan base was waiting on. The court was stormed after this one and there was a sense of rejuvenation in the building after the win. Country Roads echoed throughout and with good reason.

This season may not be a waste as so many thought, and this game is the reason why you never give up on a Bob Huggins-coached team. He teaches them to fight and he teaches them to play for the state. Beetle Bolden was vomiting before the game, and he went out and fought. This team is young, they have their growing pains and they’ve suffered some heart-breaking losses but they still want to win. They have not quit on the fans, and the fans shouldn’t quit on them.

This is the game a team needs to build some confidence and make a run. The Mountaineers will grow and learn as the season rolls on. There will obviously be trials and tribulations but this is a very good sign for the future.

There is new life in Morgantown. The team is happy, Huggins is happy, and the fans are happy. In a state that lives through this university, it's always a good day when you can cue Country Roads.
