Score Predictions for the First Round of Big 12 Tournament

Picking who will move on to the quarterfinals.

The Big 12 Conference tournament is set to get underway Wednesday evening in Kansas City at the T-Mobile Center. No. 8 West Virginia will get things started against No. 9 Texas Tech, followed by a matchup of No. 7 Oklahoma State and No. 10 Oklahoma.

Here's how I see tonight's games going.

West Virginia 80, Texas Tech 71

Texas Tech head coach Mark Adams is currently suspended and with how well the Mountaineers have played recently, I don't see Tech having much of a chance in this one. Erik Stevenson has been red hot, notching at least 23 points in each of the last five games, including a pair of 27-point outings. Bob Huggins appears to have his guys focused and ready for this tournament whereas Tech is probably a little lost having to listen to a new lead voice. West Virginia cruises in the second half.

Oklahoma 68, Oklahoma State 67

Oklahoma State has a lot to play for. Oklahoma? Not so much. The Cowboys need to win at least two games in the Big 12 Conference tournament AND gets some help in order to get into the NCAA Tournament. That said, having a lot to play for comes with a lot of pressure. I see Oklahoma State being tight in this one and not playing as free and easy as the Sooners, who are just out looking to crush the tournament dreams of their little brother.
