Score Predictions for West Virginia at Iowa State

Our staff picks who will win tonight's game between the Mountaineers and Cyclones.

The West Virginia Mountaineers (16-13, 5-11) round out a two-game road trip at the Hilton Coliseum to take on the Iowa State Cyclones (17-11, 8-8) Monday night at 9:00 p.m. EST and will broadcast on ESPN2.

Schuyler Callihan: West Virginia 68, Iowa State 63

It's tough to win in Ames, especially when the Cyclones have revenge on their mind. However, I see this as a great opportunity for WVU to pick up a rare road win and sweep the season series.

West Virginia has vastly improved on the defensive end of the floor and when you throw in Iowa State's recent cold shooting, I see West Virginia coming out on top. Over the last three games, the Cyclones are shooting 57/167 (34%) from the field and 13/61 (21%) from three-point range.

I've got the Mountaineers winning an ugly defensive struggle.

Christopher Hall: West Virginia 76 Iowa State 73

After starting 15-4 and 6-2 in Big 12 Conference play, the Cyclones have dropped seven of their last nine games but notched wins over Kansas and TCU.

Iowa State was shooting nearly 40% from three heading into the Big 12/SEC Challenge, but during the past nine games, the Cyclones have struggled at the three-point line, shooting 29.6%.

West Virginia is coming off a two-point loss at Kansas Saturday, but it was arguably the Mountaineers best performance of the season.

Forward Tre Mitchell has produced back-to-back double figure performances for the first time since mid-January with a career-high 22 points in the home win over Oklahoma State and 20 versus Kansas.

Guard Erik Stevenson has averaged 24.3 points over the last three games, and forward Emmitt Matthews Jr. has emerged in the last six contests, averaging 12.6 ppg, the Mountaineers appear to be peaking at the right time.

I believe the Mountaineers keep their momentum rolling with a tough, gritty win over the Cyclones, 76-73.
