Score Predictions for West Virginia vs. Bellarmine
Schuyler Callihan: West Virginia 70, Bellarmine 62
West Virginia faced some stiff competition at the Fort Myers Tip-Off and down the road it will benefit this team. Bellarmine comes in with a 2-4 record and looking to turn their season around with a win over a Power Five opponent. The Knights will spread things out with five guards and their biggest player on the floor, Billy Smith, is only 6'7" and plays just 17 minutes per night.
I expect Jesse Edwards to have his way in the paint and put up some monster numbers in this game. West Virginia wins but a late surge by Bellarmine makes it look closer than it really felt.
Christopher Hall: West Virgina 76 Bellarmine 65
West Virginia has improved in each outing to begin the season, and showed during the Ft. Myers Tip-Off they can compete with some of the better teams in the country. However, the short bench remains an issue for the Mountaineers.
Bellarmine has been competitive in all six of its contests. A pair of guards, Ben Johnson and Pete Suder, lead the guard heavy team in scoring, combing for an average of 24.3 points per game.
The Mountaineers will continue to find success with their frontcourt, behind forwards Quinn Slazinksi and Jesse Edwards to gut out a 76-65 victory.
