Score Predictions for West Virginia vs. No. 12 Baylor

We make our picks between the Mountaineers and the 12th-ranked Bears

The West Virginia Mountaineers (8-16, 3-8) host the No. 12 Baylor Bears (18-6, 7-4) Saturday evening. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. EST and the action will broadcast on ESPN2.

Schuler Callihan: Baylor 75, West Virginia 69.

Aside from a mini three-game skid which featured a pair of overtime losses, this Baylor team has been one of the better teams in the country that virtually no one talks about.

Picking up a win this evening in Morgantown won't brew up any conversation about the Bears, but a loss surely would. Scott Drew has West Virginia's number, winning five straight and eight of the last nine, including three straight victories in Morgantown.

West Virginia looks like a team that's going through the motions, just trying to get to the end of the season. They also look like a team that knows the Big 12 tournament is their only way into the big dance at this point.

The Mountaineers have played better at home, but they fall short tonight to the Bears.

Christopher Hall: Baylor 77, West Virginia 68.

Baylor has won four of its last five games with the four wins coming against nationally ranked opponents and the only loss was by three at Kansas. However, the Bears have not won on the road since their conference opener.

Meanwhile, West Virginia has lost three-straight, losing each contest by double digits. The losing streak started with a home loss against BYU which snapped a three-game home winning streak.

West Virginia has shown they can compete with some of the top teams in the country, but it starts in the defensive end but has given up 81+ points in the last three games.

For the Mountaineers to pull off the upset, their defensive effort will have to improve dramatically against a Bears squad that has six scorers averaging double figures. West Virginia has seemingly lost its edge and until they show some grit on the defensive end, the losing streak extends.

Baylor continues its momentum with a 77-68 win.
