Spread & Over/Under Predictions for WVU vs. Texas

Can the Mountaineers cover the spread?

Each game day, we will release an article on our thoughts on the spread and the over/under of West Virginia games. The star ratings next to the play describe the overall confidence in that particular play.

Star ratings:

1 Star - Not very confident

2 Star - A little confident

3 Star - Fairly confident

4 Star - Very confident

5 Star - Should be a lock to happen

Spread: Texas -6.5

1-star play on Texas covering (-6.5): I'm somewhat hesitant to lay the points with Texas because this is the second long trip they will have made this week, having gone to Cincinnati on Tuesday. Plus, West Virginia playing at home has some value. But when you stack the two rosters side by side, the Longhorns are the superior team and it's not even close. WVU may hang around for the first 25-30 minutes, but Texas will pull away.

Over/Under: 146.5

1-star play on the over: The over has cashed in five of the last six West Virginia games, while the under has hit in six of the last Texas games. I know WVU's offense has struggled all season long, but if they can find a way to get to 70 in this game, I like our chances of hitting the over.

Last year's picks:

ATS record: 6-9 (40%)

O/U record: 9-6 (60%)

Overall: 15-15 (50%)
