Morgantown, WV - The West Virginia Mountaineers (5-7) handled the Toledo Rockets (6-6) Saturday afternoon 91-81. West Virginia guard RaeQuan Battle produced 22 first half points and led all-scorers in the contest with 29 points.

West Virginia jumped out to a 15-4 run, with guard Kerr Kriisa capturing momentum with back-to-back threes. 

The Mountaineers built their largest lead of 18 points in the first half following a 10-1 run at the 13:03 mark but the Rockets began to settle in. Twice Toledo cut the West Virginia advantage to 10, however, West Virginia guard RaeQuan Battle led all-scorers in the first half with 22 points, behind 8-10 shooting from the field, to maintain a double-digit margin as West Virginia took a 12-point advantage into halftime 45-33.

Toledo quickly cut into the West Virginia lead to begin the second half with guards Ra'Heim Moss and Bryce Ford hitting from behind the arc as part of a 10-2 run to cut the WVU lead to five, 52-47 at the 15:20 mark. 

Rockets guard Dante Maddox buried a three to get Toledo within two, 56-54, with 13 minutes left to play. 

The Mountaineers stretched their lead back out to seven, but Toledo forward Andre Lorentson hit consecutive threes to get the Rockets within two, 66-64, with eight minutes remaining in the game. 

After a Kriisa three put the Mountaineers back up seven, Toledo looked to cut the deficit back to three but a technical foul on Moss lost the Rockets momentum and West Virginia steadily grew its lead to nine. Forward Josiah Harris slam dunk off an offensive rebound put the Mountaineers up eight. 

West Virginia forward Akok Akok's offensive putback, punctuated with a dunk, extended the Mountaineers lead to 10 with 1:32 remaining in the game as West Virginia cruised to a 91-81 victory.
