Interim head coach Josh Eilert sat courtside with play-by-play caller Tony Caridi and discussed the loss to the Longhorns.

Opening statement

I knew the way they play so physical that was going to be their bread and butter - going downhill and creating those turnovers. And I think we talked about it in the beginning radio show before pregame, I said its an absolute key to the game, and if we don't take care of the ball and control this game on the offensive end, it's going be a long night for us. And then when we turn it over 19 times, and they get 26 points off your turnovers - there's the game right there when you lose by 16. So, we didn't have it tonight in any way, shape, or form, but they had us turned around and then that pressure really bothered us and we couldn't overcome that.

Matching the Big 12’s physicality

We don't have a big strong physical presence. We don't have that guy who is going to dig his heels in and guard and play physical, and that guy off the bench you think you can go to when things get really tough. We don't have that. We got some really good guys and really skilled guys but when the pressure gets turned up, it really affects us, and the physicality of the game really affects us, even more so on the road because you're going to get the road whistle. That's the way it is in this league. You feel like you get the road whistle, no different tonight. I'm not going to get into all that, but you know we got to match the physicality of teams we play or it's going to be a long night each and every night in this league.

Guards Noah Farrakhan and Kerr Kriisa’s injuries

First impressions you talk to the trainers, it doesn't seem like it's nearly as bad as it probably looked in person. I was a little worried with Noah. Kerr’s had a shoulder injury that he's fought over the course of his career. So, whatever happened with that screen is concerning but Noah’s issue doesn’t seem to be nearly as bad as what it probably looked on the floor. I was worried that maybe that was an Achilles [injury] or something like that the way he went down, but hopefully it's just a light ankle sprain. Hopefully we'll work through that this week.
