What Maryland's Head Coach Said About West Virginia

Maryland head coach Kevin Willard met with the media earlier this week to discuss the matchup against West Virginia. 

What he expects from WVU

"Every Coach Huggins team is going to be extremely disciplined. They're going to be physical. They're going to rebound the basketball. They're playing a little bit faster than when I was against them back in the Big East back in the day. And I know Joe Toussaint is a heck of a guard.'

Keys versus West Virginia

"Well, we're definitely going to have to rebound the ball at a high level. And we need to fix our transition offense and defense. We lost against Indiana because transition offense, we settled for too many threes. And then transition defense, up seven we give up a big three. Up six we give up two layups in transition. We just have to get back to being a little more fundamental in our transition defense."

Thoughts on Bob Huggins

"I think what makes Coach Huggins a Hall of Fame coach is that he has adapted his style year and year out. He's been in the business a long time. A lot of guys that have been in the business as long as he has don't change. I think Coach Huggins is a Hall of Fame coach because he does adapt to the kids he has. You know they're going to be well-coached. You know they're going to be physical, but he's adapted offensively. When I first played him at West Virginia, he played more of a motion offense and then he went to a pick-and-roll offense and then he started changing his defenses a little bit. He just doesn't stay the same."
