What the ESPN BPI Says About West Virginia's Chances vs Kansas State
It's been exactly two weeks since West Virginia last played a basketball game but thankfully they are back in action today on the road at Kansas State.
West Virginia had three games postponed due to COVID-19 issues within the Mountaineer program which may have also allowed for guys like Derek Culver and Sean McNeil to heal after being banged up before the team's pause.
Today, the Mountaineers are viewed as huge favorites against the 5-10 Wildcats as the ESPN BPI gives them an 87.1% chance to win.
If there was no two-week pause, I'd say this number is probably about right. Kansas State is extremely young and short on experience. West Virginia should be able to handle them easily on the boards and inside the paint. The only reason I think the number is a tad high is because of the two-week layoff. Do the computers factor in that the Mountaineers haven't played in 14 days? I don't know that they do but regardless, I don't think the Wildcats have much of a chance to win this game unless West Virginia just comes out absolutely flat or is missing some key players. Remember, we still have no idea which players are going to be available for this game and likely won't know until the game tips off.
