What the ESPN BPI Says About West Virginia's Chances vs Texas Tech

Are the Mountaineers expected to win against the Red Raiders? Find out below!

Tonight's matchup between No. 10 Texas Tech and No. 11 West Virginia is expected to be a tight one from start to finish. The oddsmakers in Las Vegas have the Mountaineers as slight favorites but the ESPN BPI matchup predictor says otherwise.

The BPI gives Texas Tech the slight edge with a 51.8% chance to escape Morgantown with a road victory.

Analysis:

I can't really say I disagree with the BPI because this is the true definition of a 50/50 game. West Virginia played on Saturday but before that, they hadn't played in two weeks. Texas Tech had their two games postponed last week, so it's been nine days since they've been in game action. It's going to come down to which team is better conditioned and is not rusty on the offensive end of the floor. West Virginia needs Derek Culver to have a bounce-back performance after notching only eight points and four rebounds on Saturday.

Last year, the two split the season series with West Virginia winning at home 66-54 and then losing on the road in Lubbock, 89-81.

Tip-off between the Mountaineers and Red Raiders is set for 9 p.m. EST on ESPN.
