What the ESPN BPI Says About WVU vs. Bellarmine

Can the Mountaineers get back on track Sunday evening?

West Virginia returns to action this evening to play host to the Bellarmine Knights. The Mountaineers went 0-2 during their trip to Florida for the Fort Myers Tip-Off, but played well considering the circumstances.

According to the ESPN BPI, West Virginia has an 81.7% chance of winning while Bellarmine has an 18.3% chance of pulling the upset.

The Mountaineers led SMU in the first game 36-25 at the half but fatigue set in and they were outscored 45-22. In the consolation game, WVU nearly pulled off the upset of No. 24 Virginia but failed to close out. They had two opportunities to grab a defensive rebound and get the last shot of regulation, but were unable to come up with the ball. There are no moral victories, but interim head coach Josh Eilert was proud of how his team competed, as he should.

As for Bellarmine, it's been kind of an up and down start to the season for them. They got crushed by Washington, played Kansas State tough, lost to Chattanooga, beat Bowling Green, played poorly versus Morehead State, and defeated Midway, an NAIA school by 19.
