What the ESPN BPI Says About WVU vs. Cincinnati

Will West Virginia get back in the win column at home?

The Mountaineers are finally back home after a pair of tough road losses to UCF and Oklahoma State and will play host to former Big East foe Cincinnati on Wednesday night.

According to the ESPN BPI, West Virginia has a 23.2% chance to win while Cincinnati has a 76.8% chance to pick up their 15th win of the season.

West Virginia has won its last two league games at home, both coming against top 25 opponents. I understand why the computers are so low on the Mountaineers but 23.2% is about 20 percentage points fewer than expected.

Cincinnati is off to a good start in their first year in the Big 12 Conference, but have already experienced how difficult this league can be on a night in, night out basis. The Bearcats do have a couple of wins over top 25 conference foes but are 1-4 against "original" Big 12 members, falling to Texas, Baylor, Oklahoma, and Kansas. Two of their three league wins have come against fellow newcomers UCF and BYU.

The Bearcats are one of the best rebounding teams in the league and given West Virginia's struggles on the glass, even with Jesse Edwards, you can expect Cincinnati to live in the paint and get second chance opportunities.
