What the ESPN BPI Says About WVU vs. Drexel

The Mountaineers are expected to get back on track Saturday.

It's been a disappointing start to the 2023-24 season for Josh Eilert and the West Virginia Mountaineers, but things could start to turn tonight when they host Drexel.

According to the ESPN BPI, West Virginia has a 60.9% chance to get off the schneid while Drexel has a 39.1% chance to pull off the upset.

Akok Akok made his regular season debut in the loss to Pitt on Wednesday and will continue to see his role/impact increase with each outing. Today will mark the final game of Kerr Kriisa's suspension which will be yet another huge addition. And there's still optimism that the NCAA will reverse the decision on RaeQuan Battle now that attorneys are involved.

For WVU, it's simple - they have to start knocking down more shots. On Wednesday night, the Mountaineers shot just 3/20 from three-point range while shooting just 41% from the field. They also need to have more confidence in letting it fly as there have been several occasions where guys pass up open looks due to recent struggles.

Drexel is another team the Mountaineers can't overlook. In their last two outings, they took down No. 18 Villanova and gave a really good Princeton team a run for their money. The good news for WVU is there is no Blake Hinson on this roster. Drexel shoots just 26% from three.
