What the ESPN BPI Says About WVU vs. Kansas

It'll be an uphill battle for the Mountaineers on Saturday evening.

Saturday evening, the West Virginia Mountaineers return home to host the No. 3 Kansas Jayhawks. A win would give WVU its second victory over a top 25 in the past week, but that will not be an easy task.

According to the ESPN BPI, West Virginia has a 17.1% chance of winning while Kansas has a 82.9% chance.

After taking down No. 25 Texas last Saturday, the Mountaineers struggled mightily on the defensive end of the floor in Wednesday's loss at Oklahoma. They allowed the Sooners to shoot an absurd 66% from the field in the second half and for the game, WVU was out-rebounded 33-19 and whooped in the paint, 40-24. Pat Suemnick entered the day questionable with an illness but pulled through and played well considering the circumstances, notching nine points and seven rebounds.

Kansas has put together one hell of a resume to this point, already securing key wins against No. 17 Kentucky, No. 7 Tennessee, No. 4 UConn, and No. 9 Oklahoma. They had a surprising loss on the road earlier this month at UCF but have since rebounded with two straight convincing wins.

Despite having success against the Jayhawks over the years in Morgantown, Kansas has won three of the last four in the WVU Coliseum.
