What the ESPN BPI Says About WVU vs. Ohio State
West Virginia has made the short trip over to Cleveland and will take on the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Legends of Basketball Showcase.
According to the ESPN BPI, West Virginia has just a 17.3% chance to win while Ohio State has an 82.7% chance.
The Mountaineers haven't played since last Saturday but had they are coming off their best offensive performance of the season where they put up 91 points on the Toledo Rockets en route to collecting win No. 5 on the year. RaeQuan Battle led the way with another 29-point outing while three other Mountaineers reached double figures. Akok Akok filled in at the five, replacing the injured Jesse Edwards for the first time and recorded nine points, twelve rebounds, and two blocks.
It's been a little longer since the Buckeyes have played (Dec. 21) when they routed New Orleans, 78-36. Thanks to their 10-2 start, Ohio State currently sits at No. 30 in the NCAA's Net Rankings, No. 28 in the KenPom Ratings, and as a projected No. 7 seed in the NCAA Tournament by ESPN's Joe Lunardi. West Virginia needs a lot to go their way if they want to play their way back into tournament contention and a win over this Ohio State team could go a long way.
