What the ESPN BPI Says About WVU vs. Radford
West Virginia will be back in action Wednesday night when they return home to host the former Mountaineer Darris Nichols and the Radford Highlanders.
According to the ESPN BPI, West Virginia has a 66.5% chance to win while Radford has a 33.5% chance.
WVU finally got some depth to its rotation with Kerr Kriisa returning from suspension and RaeQuan Battle and Noah Farrakhan being cleared to play, but the roster took another hit. Monday afternoon, interim head coach Josh Eilert announced that starting center Jesse Edwards fractured his wrist in the UMass game and will be out four weeks.
Akok Akok is likely to fill in his spot in the starting five, but will need to be spelled by Pat Suemnick and others due to his minutes restriction.
Because of Edwards' injury, I'm honestly surprised ESPN has West Virginia favored by as much as they do. Radford is off to a solid 9-4 start and played North Carolina tough in the season-opener before the Tar Heels pulled away in the game's final minutes. The Mountaineers will have their hands full once again and desperately need to get back in the win column to keep any hopes of making the NCAA Tournament alive.
