What the ESPN BPI Says About WVU vs. Texas

Another uphill battle coming for the Mountaineers.

West Virginia has lost five of its last six, including its first two games in Big 12 Conference play. Time is running out for the Mountaineers to get the season turned around and with the upcoming schedule, it's hard to see that happening.

However, with each game, it presents an opportunity. Tonight is a pretty big one as the Mountaineers welcome in the Texas Longhorns who are ranked 25th in the AP Poll and 44th in the NCAA's NET Rankings, meaning a win would certainly bolster their strength of record.

According to the ESPN BPI, West Virginia has a 26.6% chance to win while Texas has a 73.4% chance.

To this point, Texas has played a fairly light schedule. Their wins don't necessarily jump out at you and their three losses came to UConn, Marquette, and Texas Tech - the only three decent teams they've played. Rodney Terry's group has something to prove and although a win over West Virginia won't move the needle, they can't afford to have a loss like this on their resume.
