WVU Falls Out of ESPN's Latest Bracketology Projection

Can the Mountaineers make the NCAA Tournament in its first season without Bob Huggins?

West Virginia appears to be a bubble team this season and considering all that the program has gone through this offseason, just being in the conversation for the NCAA Tournament speaks volumes to the job that interim head coach Josh Eilert did this offseason in terms of fielding a competitive team.

Monday evening, WVU took a massive hit as the NCAA ruled Montana State transfer guard RaeQuan Battle ineligible for the 2023-24 season. West Virginia will of course appeal the decision but knowing how the NCAA works, it's unlikely they will change their initial ruling.

With Battle currently out, so are the Mountaineers in Joe Lunardi's latest bracketology projection on ESPN.

Lunardi has West Virginia as a part of the "First Four Out" along with Texas Tech, Providence, and Boise State. As a matter of fact, the Mountaineers are his first team out.

We'll get our first look at the new-look Mountaineers this Friday when they host George Mason in a charity exhibition. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. EST and will stream on Big 12 NOW/ESPN+.
