In less than two months, the Big 12 Conference will officially welcome its newest members - BYU, Central Florida, Cincinnati, and Houston. Next summer, Oklahoma and Texas, the league's two biggest brands, will bolt for the SEC.

Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark knows that the league can't stay at just 10 members, especially with the SEC and Big Ten constantly looking to expand. Reports have surfaced that the league has contacted Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, Utah, and Gonzaga about joining.

Yormark is all about branding and marketing, so if the league expands past twelve members, there is a chance the conference changes its name and logo, according to a report from Brandon Marcello of 247Sports.

“The Big 12 is preparing to explore new branding possibilities and perhaps a name change should the conference expand to 14 or 16 teams, though brainstorming is in the early stages, sources tell 247Sports…

“Should membership numbers change again in 2025, the Big 12 is at least open to the possibility of tweaking its logo, if not changing its name, a source said.“

Doing a complete rebrand isn't a bad idea and honestly, should probably be done if the league is anything but twelve members. With Oklahoma and Texas out and several new schools joining, it's a chance to start anew.
