Big 12 Power Rankings: Week 9
With only 4 of the Big 12 teams playing this weekend, we don’t have a lot of movement in our rankings. Let’s see how the conference stacks up after week 9:
10. Kansas (2-5, 0-4 Big 12)
Previous Ranking: 10
Results: Lost to Texas Tech 48-16, Up Next: TCU
It seems like forever that The Jayhawks closed out their non-conference slate with back to back wins. Kansas has now lost 4 in a row, and remains winless in Big 12 play. Their defense was unable to stop the high powered Red Raiders, and even with the firing of OC Doug Meacham, their offense was ineffective all game. Kansas has a lot to figure out if they want to end their losing streak any time soon.
9. Oklahoma State (4-3, 1-3 Big 12)

Results: BYE Up Next: Texas
The Cowboys had the week off as they look to figure out what went wrong in their last two games. After a promising start to the season, they have now lost 3 of their last 4 games, and will have their biggest challenge of the year as they welcome a tough Texas team to Stillwater.
8. TCU (3-4, 1-3 Big 12)

Results: Lost to Oklahoma 52-27, Up Next: @ Kansas
After a great start to the season, the Horned Frogs have now lost four of their last five games. They were completely dominated by the Sooners in their last game. With news coming out that starting QB Shawn Robinson will have season-ending surgery, and with the arrest of star wide receiver KaVonte Turpin, TCU's season is in trouble. One bright spot for TCU is that their next contest come against a struggling Kansas team.
7. Baylor (4-3, 2-2 Big 12)

Baylor’s off week came at a good time as the missed a chance to take down a highly rated Texas team. The Bears will be traveling to Morgantown to take on the Mountaineers and will be hoping that West Virginia’s struggles from last week have continued.
6. Kansas State (3-4, 1-3 Big 12)

Results: BYE, Up Next: @ Oklahoma
After their impressive win over Oklahoma State, the Wildcats had the week off to prepare for a visit to Norman to face the Sooners. The Wildcats will need to play like they did against Oklahoma State if they hope to have any chance of handing the Sooners their second loss.
5. Texas Tech (5-2, 3-1 Big 12)

Results: Win vs Kansas 48-16, Up Next: @ Iowa State
QB Alan Bowman finally returned from injury, and picked up where he left off. He threw for over 400 yards and 3 TD's as the Red Raiders completely dominated the Jayhawks. Texas Tech will have their hands full next week as they head to Ames to face the Cyclones, who completely shut down West Virginia in their last game.
4. West Virginia (5-1, 3-1 Big 12)

WVU had a much needed break after their embarrassing loss to Iowa State. The Mountaineers will welcome the Bears to Morgantown in a rare Thursday night match up. Baylor is coming off a close loss to Texas, and the Mountaineers will need to play well if they want to get their season back on track.
3. Iowa State (3-3, 2-2 Big 12)

Iowa state had the week off after their surprising win over WVU. They will have a chance to prove their last win wasn’t a fluke as they will be facing one of the top offenses in the country in Texas Tech.
2. Oklahoma (6-1, 3-1 Big 12)

Results: Win vs TCU 52-27, Up Next: Kansas State
The Sooners rebounded from their loss to Texas as they racked up over 500 yards of offense in a rout of TCU. The Sooners only led by 4 at halftime, but outscored TCU 24-3 in the second half as they picked up their 3rd conference win. The Sooners will be welcoming an improved Kansas State team this week.

Texas had the week off and will travel to Stillwater to take on a struggling Oklahoma State team. The Longhorns are in a good spot as they control their own destiny on their way to a Big 12 Championship.
