CJ Donaldson Nominated for the Doak Walker Award
West Virginia University sophomore running back CJ Donaldson was nominated for the Doak Walker Award on Wednesday.
Donaldson rushed for 526 yards and eight touchdowns in seven games last season, averaging 6.0 yards per rush as a freshman.
The Miami (FL) native burst onto the season in the season opener at Pitt a year ago, with his first collegiate carry coming in the second quarter for a 44-yard run and finished the evening for 125 yards and a touchdown on seven carries.
The prestigious Doak Walker Award was created in 1989 to honor the nation’s most outstanding collegiate running back. Named for the 1948 Heisman Trophy winner and three-time All-America selection from SMU, the Doak Walker Award recognizes a football player’s outstanding performance on the field, as well as his achievements in the community and in the classroom.
