The Big 12 Conference is set to add a new(ish) member. According to Brett McMurphy of The Action Network, Colorado is set to leave the PAC 12 for the Big 12 in 2024.

There have been rumblings of Colorado rejoining the Big 12 for several months now amid the PAC 12's inability to land a new TV deal. With no current deal in place, Colorado won't be obligated to pay any exit fees which West Virginia had to do when it bolted from the Big East in 2012.

BYU, Central Florida, Cincinnati, and Houston became members of the conference on July 1st. With Oklahoma and Texas departing for the SEC next and Colorado reportedly set to come in, the league will have 13 members. But don't expect that to be the case for long. Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark seems to like the number 14.

"I do think there's strength in numbers. But I also said we're not chasing a number. If and when the opportunity presents itself to stay at 14, we'll pursue it. It's not about chasing a number. It's about creating value for membership and we'll see where that takes us."
