What the ESPN FPI Says About WVU's Chances Against Oklahoma State

The Mountaineers are projected to get back on track this week.

West Virginia has another big game this week as they host the Oklahoma State Cowboys (4-2, 2-1), who have won two straight against Kansas State and Kansas.

When you look at these two teams on paper, they're very similar. They have each had success on the ground, had spurts of an aerial attack, and have struggled converting third downs. West Virginia has the advantage defensively, but you wonder if last week's outing versus Houston is the start of a declining unit with a handful of injuries.

Oklahoma State has won each of the last four meetings in Morgantown and has held the Mountaineers to a combined 16 points in the two games Neal Brown has coached.

According to the ESPN FPI, West Virginia has a 61.2% chance to win this game while Oklahoma State has a 38.8% chance.

Although I do lean toward the Mountaineers in the matchup, I believe it's more of a toss-up game than the ESPN computers project. How does West Virginia bounce back mentally and emotionally from last Thursday's game? If they come out flat or start the game slow, it's going to be an uphill battle.

Oklahoma State stopped playing musical chairs at quarterback and since they've settled with Alan Bowman, the offense has found its groove averaging 31.7 points per game.

West Virginia and Oklahoma State are set to kick off at 3:30 p.m. EST.
