West Virginia beat up on Tennessee 40-14 on Saturday, and senior wide receiver Gary Jennings picked up where he left off last season, when he led the talented WVU receiving corp with 97 catches for 1,096 yards. Jennings finished the SEC opener with six catches for 113 yards and a touchdown.

Jennings joked after the game that he had his touchdown for the season -- he only had one touchdown catch on the year in 2017, which came in the opener against Virginia Tech.

The Week 1 highlight for Jennings was a diving catch against tight coverage on a perfectly thrown ball by Will Grier that only Jennings could make. Anytime the West Virginia offense needs a play, there's a strong possibility that No. 12 will be involved.

Over his first three seasons in Morgantown, Jennings has career totals of 114 catches for 1377 yards and four TD's. The Stafford, Va product has the capability to surpass those numbers this season in the high-octane Mountaineer offense. It's been said before, but WVU has a very real chance to produce two Biletnikoff finalists in Jennings and David Sills.

If Jennings matches his production last season, he will finish second all-time at WVU in receptions. His 97-catch season ranks fifth all time at WVU for a season. Mr. Consistent will likely finish in the top 10 in most receiving categories once his playing days are over. Until that day comes, West Virginia fans will continue to watch a special player line up at the Y position.
