Initial Thoughts on WVU's Loss to Oklahoma

Quick analysis of West Virginia's devastating loss.

West Virginia fell to 6-4 (4-3) Saturday night after their 59-20 loss to Oklahoma. Below are a few thoughts on the action.

Something needs to change defensively

Look, I understand there are injuries on the defense but every team in the country is dealing with it at this point in the season. We've had a large enough sample size with Jordan Lesley as the defensive coordinator to understand what adjustments need to be made. Is making a DC change at the end of the year the right move? Maybe, maybe not. First, I would look to hiring more experienced assistants on that side of the ball. Look at each of their respective resumes and you'll notice a common theme - not much Power Five experience.

Big-time game and a massive letdown

I don't understand how you get boatraced in a game of this magnitude. This team looked unprepared and had the deer in the headlights look from the jump defensively. Once the offense faced some adversity, doubt crept in and they pressed. Everything was setting up the way you wanted it in the Big 12, for the most part, and they were dominated for 98% of the game.
