Injury News: Game Status for Aubrey Burks, Wyatt Milum & Tomas Rimac Revealed

West Virginia hopes the next few days go well for two of their injured starters.

WVU will head to Houston on Thursday night looking for an opportunity to pick up their third Big 12 win in as many tries.

Even after coming off the bye week, the Mountaineers are still dealing with some injuries that could impact the starting lineup for this week's game.

Head coach Neal Brown announced that left tackle Wyatt Milum, who was poked in the eye in the win over TCU is going to be a gametime decision. Meanwhile, left guard Tomas Rimac who suffered a leg injury in that game will be out this week. Brown says he will return but is not sure of when that could be.

On the defensive side, safety Aubrey Burks, who was carted off the field in Fort Worth remains questionable. If Burks is unable to go, the staff could move some pieces around.

"We've got some flexibility back there," Brown said. "Malachi [Ruffin] has played and started games at safety. We used Jacolby [Spells] in some of our nickel packages. He's played well. He's played multiple series the last three games. And then after that, we've got Avery Wilcox would be the fourth safety if Aubrey didn't go. And then Josiah Jackson...that's why it was big for him during the open week to get a lot of reps and he showed some signs. I think he'll be ready if called upon."

With Trey Lathan out for the season, Brown announced that true freshman Ben Cutter will slide in his spot as the new starting WILL linebacker.

"Ben Cutter will start and he's earned that opportunity. He was playing a lot before and I'm really excited about his growth. Lee [Kpogba] is the leader in that room but we've got several young guys, so I think the future of that position is really bright."

Jai Faverus and Caden Biser will also be rotated in at WILL.
