Is the 'Pat McAfee Show' Heading to ESPN?
Pat McAfee was once known for puntin' and kickin' footballs and now, he may be on the verge of punting his current $120 million deal with FanDuel.
According to Andrew Marchand of the New York Post, ESPN has emerged as the leading candidate to become the new home of The Pat McAfee Show.
"The exact amount of money McAfee will earn in a deal is not yet known, though it is expected to be in the eight-figures-per-year range. It may be less than the $30 million-plus a year FanDuel deal he is potentially walking away from."
The Pat McAfee Show has become one of the most popular sports talk shows on the internet, amassing over 2.2 million subscribers on YouTube and 2.8 million followers on Twitter.
Over the last several months, McAfee has hinted at something big taking place for his show, repeatedly referring to the big news as "up to somethin' season."
"A lot of massive news coming out of this operation in probably the next ten days," McAfee said during his Monday show. "It was decided when we were in Hawaii for the post-Super Bowl vacation that I wanted to have everything done before the baby got here. Baby came two weeks early, so, you know, close, I guess? But yeah, up to somethin' season has wrapped. There will be an announcement coming very soon. And it's the biggest. This is big. I think some would call it historic."
