Know Your Foe: Kansas State Offensive Breakdown

Kansas State has one of the best offenses in the league, highlighted by one of the toughest backs in the country

The West Virginia Mountaineers (4-6, 2-5) host the fifteenth-ranked Kansas State Wildcats (7-3, 5-2) Saturday with kickoff set for 2:00 p.m. EST and the action streaming on ESPN+.

Kansas State ranks third in the league in total offense in conference play with 444.9 yards per game, getting most of the production on the ground averaging 204.1 rushing yards per game which also ranks third in the league, while averaging 31.7 ppg (5th)

Running back Deuce Vaughn is third in the Big 12 in rushing, averaging 108.1 ypg, 104.1 ypg during league play. The Preseason All-Big 12 selection eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark for the season after rushing for 106 yards against Baylor last week. He also ranks third in conference play with 137.0 all purpose yards per game.

Paving the way for the rushing attack is Preseason First Team All-Big 12 left guard Cooper Beebe and highlighting an offensive line that’s only allowed nine sacks on the season.

The Wildcats will be without starting quarterback Adrian Martinez, but Will Howard has thrown for 717 yards and nine touchdowns in three appearances this season and led K-State to a 31-3 win over Baylor last week.

Malik Knowles leads the team in receiving with 38 receptions and 558 yards per game, Phillip Brooks is second on the team with 419 yards while Kade Warner has a team-leading five touchdown receptions. Meanwhile tight end Ben Sinnot has hauled in 22 receptions for 271 yards and two touchdowns.
