Neal Brown & Former WVU HC Dana Holgorsen Speak on the Passing of Dale Wolfley

The two head coaches of this week's matchup send prayers to the Wolfley family.

Over the weekend, Mountaineer Nation lost one of its own as former WVU offensive lineman Dale Wolfley passed away at the age of 56.

Today, both WVU head coach Neal Brown and former WVU head coach Dana Holgorsen, who is now at Houston, spoke on Wolfley's passing and sent their prayers to his family.

Neal Brown

"I want to send my condolences to Dale Wolfley's family. I heard about his passing late yesterday and my first reaction was, 'You sure?' When you think of somebody that has the personality that Wolf did, kind of a bigger-than-life personality, you just don't think about those people passing. So still probably in a little bit of shock there. No bigger supporter of West Virginia football than Dale Wolfley. Helped me a lot when I first got here connecting with former players and it really kind of got our 1891 Club off the ground with Coleman [Barnes]. Got some people back involved with the program that hadn't been involved in a long time. He was the link between a lot of the former players and the current team. And then through the years, he did a really good job of getting guys back here whether it was [Brian] Jozwiak's golf tournament or some alumni functions around our spring game. He was always the guy that really engaged former players and got them back around the program. He'll be missed. Just really feeling for that whole family. He always talked about the brotherhood of West Virginia football players and I know that entire brotherhood is really hurting today."

Dana Holgorsen

"My condolences go out to Dale Wolfley's family. Wolfman was on my staff. He was a great player there. He worked there forever. He was very important to a lot of people and to Mountaineer Nation, so my condolences go out to his family. He's going to be missed. I coached two of his kids. He meant a lot to me. I'm sure he was going to be here. But I just wanted to send my condolences to Mountaineer Nation."
