Neal Brown Gives Final Injury Update Ahead of Backyard Brawl

The latest on the injury front for the Mountaineers.

During his weekly radio show at Kegler's, WVU head football coach Neal Brown said that wide receiver Devin Carter has practiced all week and will be ready to go for Saturday's game against Pitt.

Carter did not play vs. Duquesne after getting stepped on during one of the team's mid-week practices despite trying to convince the staff in pregame warmups that he was fine.

Fellow wide receiver EJ Horton will be a game-time decision along with punter Oliver Straw, who has a sprained ankle. The staff is, however, confident in redshirt junior Leighton Bechdel to replace Straw if needed. Bechdel had a strong fall camp and really impressed with his power.

On the defensive side of the ball for the Mountaineers, they add another piece to the defensive line rotation in Asani Redwood and bring back another starter in defensive back Marcis Floyd. In twelve games last season, Floyd recorded 63 tackles, four pass breakups, one tackle for loss, and one forced fumble.

True freshman wide receiver Traylon Ray is also expected to suit up.
