Neal Brown Gives WVU Football Injury Report as Camp Begins

For the most part, WVU is in good shape health-wise to start fall camp.

West Virginia fall camp is officially underway as we are two days into the near month-long installation/training/competition period.

After the first day of camp, head coach Neal Brown provided the media with an injury update and the good news is, there are only a few guys who are being held out or limited to start practice.

"[Defensive lineman] Brayden Dudley had a little offseason surgery. He's limited. We're hopeful he'll be back by early in the year, if not by the first game. [Linebacker] Josiah [Trotter] is well into his rehab. He's handled it well. [Defensive lineman] Asani Redwood is ahead of schedule. Pleased with where he's at he's doing some non-contact stuff. [Wide receiver] Cortez Braham, he may or may not be out there tomorrow. Nothing serious, he's sick. [Wide receiver] Davis [Mallinger] continues to come back from his surgery that he got at the end of last year. He was out there limited, not full-go yet."

Obviously, the biggest injury here is Josiah Trotter, who suffered a lower leg injury back in the spring that required surgery. He is expected to miss a significant portion of time, possibly the entire 2023 season. The talented true freshman was expected to be in the linebacker rotation from the get-go and with him on the shelf for several weeks, the Mountaineers are going to need others to step up in what is already a relatively thin position group.
