On3 Ranks Neal Brown at Bottom of Big 12 Head Coach Power Rankings

The pressure to win is on in Morgantown.

Neal Brown has compiled a 22-25 record during his time as the head coach at West Virginia and as a result, he ranks dead last in the Big 12 head coaching power rankings by On3.

Four years into the job, Brown has yet to collect a single winning season in which a full season was played. The only year the Mountaineers finished over. 500 came back in 2020 when the season was shortened to ten games due to the pandemic. That year, WVU finished 6-4 with three of those wins coming against Eastern Kentucky, Kansas, and Army.

The hot seat, from the outside looking in, warmed up considerably last season when the team fell to Iowa State 31-14, dropping the overall record to 3-6. West Virginia won two of its final three games but even then, there was some uncertainty surrounding the future of Neal Brown. Due to a late change in the athletic director's seat, the administration opted to keep Brown. But he's not completely safe. Another losing season in 2023 could be the final straw.
