Morgantown native and former walk-on wide receiver Preston Fox is pushing for a serious role in West Virginia's offense this season and this year, head coach Neal Brown means it.

"Preston continues to be productive. He's going to play. We've talked about Preston a lot and he hadn't played a ton, but he's going to play this year."

Fox has made several tough, contested catches in previous spring games and seems to haul in just about everything that is thrown his way. He doesn't have top-end speed, size, length, or strength, but he finds a way to get the job done.

"Preston, man, he's like a Honda Accord. He's consistent. He's reliable. Won't break down on you. He'll be there when you need him most," said wide receivers coach Bilal Marshall. "I'm excited about where he's going. He's a guy that we're not afraid to play. He's proven that he can play at this level, even though he wears number 29."

Fox is currently listed as the backup to Cortez Braham Jr. at the 'X' receiver spot, but he's shown that he can play both inside and out. Last season, Fox caught four passes for 41 yards and a touchdown, which came in the blowout win over Towson. He also returned six punts for 51 yards.
