Projecting West Virginia's 2024 NFL Draft Class

A way-too-early look at which WVU players could be selected in next year's draft.

Dante Stills was the lone West Virginia Mountaineer selected in the 2023 NFL Draft, taken in the sixth round by the Arizona Cardinals. It may be way-too-early, but next year's draft could feature a handful of Mountaineers if things go as expected this fall.

Here are four players that, in my opinion, have the best chance to be selected in the 2024 NFL Draft.

WR Devin Carter

Carter doesn't need to post big numbers to be considered a draftable player next spring but it might happen anyway due to the lack of experience WVU has at the receiver position. NFL teams love big, long receivers and at 6'3", 215, Carter fits the bill. During his time at NC State, Carter was a big deep ball threat, averaging over 16 yards per reception. If he can prove to be more than that, he'll be a day-three pick.

Round projection: 6-7.

OL Doug Nester

Nester has played a lot of college ball and will be an intriguing option for NFL teams next spring not only because of his experience but his versatility. He's started games at both tackle and guard and even took some reps at center this spring, serving as a potential emergency option behind Zach Frazier.

Round projection: 6-7.

C Zach Frazier

Frazier has been arguably the most consistent player on the West Virginia roster over the last three seasons. He will be a junior this fall but will be eligible to declare for the draft and forgo his senior season. I think it's safe to say that Frazier has the best chance of any on the roster to be picked.

Round projection: 4-6.

LB Lee Kpogba

Kpogba didn't have a great season last year but a lot of that stemmed from trying to do too much. He played out of position a lot, didn't fit gaps in the run game well, and struggled in pass coverage. This year, the coaching staff and Kpogba have already seen a vast improvement in those areas. He's got the build to play in the NFL. Now, it's about putting consistent play on tape.

Round projection: 7

Others likely projected to be UDFAs

WR Cortez Braham Jr., WR Ja'Shaun Poke, TE/FB Luke Hamilton, DL Davoan Hawkins, CB Montre Miller, CB Malachi Ruffin, S Marcis Floyd.
