Score Predictions for West Virginia vs. Duquesne

Our staff makes picks for this week's game.

Schuyler Callihan: West Virginia 54, Duquesne 10

Well, this is quite a difference in opponents. No offense to Duquesne, but they just don't have the athletes or the depth to be able to hang around in this game. West Virginia should rely on its bread and butter which is the run game and get those stable of backs in a good frame of mind heading into the Backyard Brawl.

Look for WVU to establish the run game early on and take some shots downfield in the passing game to jump ahead to a comfortable lead and allow the starters and key contributors to rest for much of the second half. It also gives the coaching staff a chance to see what they have in some of the young bucks, even a handful of promising walk-ons.

West Virginia gets its first win of the season with no sweat.

Christopher Hall: 55-7

West Virginia will look to showcase its offensive weapons, starting at running back. CJ Donaldson headlines the unit but I expect the younger backs such as Jaylon Anderson and Jaheim White to to get the bulk of the carries.

This will also be a good opportunity for quarterback Garrett Greene and his receiver to get into a rhythm after facing the daunting Penn State secondary in the season opener.

Lastly, the Mountaineer secondary will look to make improvement, especially in man coverage, as they prepare for the Backyard Brawl next week.

I don't expect this to be close, Mountaineers roll 55-7.
