SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: Exree Loe

Ahead of Saturday's Senior Day festivities, take a look back at the career of LB Exree Loe.

Exree Loe (Johnstown, Pa.) joined the Mountaineer football team as a true freshman in 2017. He redshirted, but made a splash on scout team. When he got his chance in 2018, Loe's play came primarily from special teams.

2019, his R-So. season, Loe started three of his 12 games, giving depth at WLB and on special teams. He was in on 500 snaps and was named Special Teams Player of the Week following the James Madison game.

Loe has 173 tackles to his name, including 111 solo shots. Add on 11.5 TFLs for 22 yards, two sacks, five pass deflections, three forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries, and Loe has left a mark on the WVU football program.

2021 (r-Jr.)

• Saw action in 10 games at Will linebacker, including seven starts before sustaining a season-ending injury at Kansas State
• Used on 495 total snaps, including 371 on defense and 124 on special teams
• Season-high 60 defensive plays at Maryland and 17 on special teams at Maryland and against Iowa State
• Sixth-leading tackler on the team with 38 stops, including 26 unassisted, one sack, three tackles for loss, one forced fumble and a quarterback hurry
• Had a season-best eight tackles at Kansas State, one of which was a tackle for loss
• Made three tackles against Oklahoma State
• Recorded four tackles against Iowa State, as well as a forced fumble at the goal line
• Had three tackles at Baylor
• Finished with five tackles against Texas Tech
• Tallied six tackles at Oklahoma, including a sack
• Made his 100th career tackle against LIU
• Totaled five tackles at Maryland, including a TFL

2020 (COVID)

• 2020 WVU Special Teams MVP (WVU Coaches)
• Saw action in nine games and started one
• Used on 409 snaps, 268 on defense and 141 on special teams, including a season-high 71 against TCU
• Added depth at WLB and used extensively on special teams
• Finished with 46 tackles for the season, including 27 solo stops, two tackles for loss, a forced fumble and a pass breakup
• Tallied five tackles at Iowa State, including four solos
• Finished with a career-high 12 tackles against TCU, including a tackle for loss
• Made his first start of the season vs. the Horned Frogs
• Totaled five tackles and a pass breakup at Texas
• Registered a then-career-best nine tackles at Texas Tech, including eight solos
• WVU Special Teams Player of the Week: Baylor
• Totaled six tackles against Baylor
• Finished with three tackles, including a TFL and a forced fumble, at Oklahoma State

2019 (r-So.)

• Saw action in 12 games and started three
• Added depth at WLB and used extensively on special teams
• Used on 500 snaps, including 309 defensive snaps
• Saw action on 20 or more defensive snaps in eight games and 15 or more special teams snaps in eight games
• Had six tackles at TCU, including four solos
• Recorded a career-high two pass breakups at Kansas State
• Registered five tackles against Texas Tech
• Set new career high in tackles (7) and tied his career high in assists (4) at Baylor
• Made his first career start at Oklahoma, finishing with five tackles and a TFL
• Earned a tackle for loss at Kansas, his second of the year
• Notched three tackles against NC State
• Career day at Missouri included six tackles (four solos) and a tackle for loss
• Made two tackles and recorded a fumble recovery against James Madison, the third of his career
• Special Teams Player of the Week - James Madison

2018 (r-Fr.)

• Saw action in 11 games
• Used primarily on special teams
• Saw action on more than 210 plays, including 160 plays on special teams
• Finished with eight tackles, including five solo stops, a sack, three tackles for loss, a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries
• Season-high two solo tackles against Baylor, including a sack and two tackles for loss
• Also had two solo tackles against Oklahoma
• Assisted on tackles for loss against Tennessee and Oklahoma State
