West Virginia 2020 Football Schedule Released
We are just passing the halfway point of the WVU football season, but today, the university released the schedule for the 2020 football season.
Mountaineer fans, get ready because the 2020 schedule was engineered so that WVU will open their season in Atlanta for the Chic-Fil-A Kickoff game, have 7 home games and just 4 Big 12 road games. WVU also will play another power 5 non-conference game along with the Chic-Fil-A Kickoff game equating to 2 non-conference games against power 5 teams (Maryland & Florida State).
West Virginia will start their 2020 campaign in Atlanta on Sept. 5 versus Florida State. This will be the Mountaineers fourth neutral site game of the last seven seasons and also the second time opening a season in Atlanta. The last time was back in 2014 when WVU lost by 10 points to the #2 Crimson Tide.
West Virginia will come back home for three home games vs Eastern Kentucky, Maryland and Kansas State before hitting the road for the first time in conference play as they take on Texas Tech in Lubbock.
The remainder of the schedule is as follows: vs TCU (10/10), @ Texas (10/17), vs Kansas (10/24), BYE, vs Oklahoma (11/7), @ Oklahoma State (11/14), vs Baylor (11/21) and @ Iowa State (11/28)
The good news about this schedule is that it balances out the travel issues that the Mountaineers normally faces year in and year out. Yes, they will still have to make those long trips to Texas and Oklahoma, but not as often. A four game road slate will bode well for Neal Brown and the Mountaineers.
The schedule lines up nicely for WVU, but can they win games? The bye week sits perfectly sandwiched between home games against Kansas and Oklahoma. Having an extra week to prepare for the Sooner can't hurt. It will be year two of a new era for Neal Brown and fans are eagerly waiting for him to thrive, however, the Big 12 is still very unforgiving and every game will be a dog fight.
